An immobile hatred
Published 1 year, 4 months ago in Making News.A Sydney bloke has been charged with destroying six mobile phone towers overnight … with a restored army tank.
The Melburnian wonders: where does one get an army tank at 3 o’clock in the morning, and what would you do with it?
ABC online has the story here. The video in particular is priceless:

Having had a couple of run-ins with mobile phone companies, I reckon he’s on a winner. Sure, I don’t promote wilful damage but phone towers suck!
Priceless it is. I think he probably deserves congratulating, most people would probably agree mobile phone companies are the enemy at times & aside from the possiblity that they are carcinogenic, phone towers are ugly and obtrusive. As to what I’d do with a tank, get back to you on that one, ‘cos there are many possibilties
Mobile phone towers mean that people can answer their phone while they’re inside the house in winter instead of having to go outside. However cool and rebellious the dude thinks he is, he hasn’t made a dent in any corporate communcations empire… just inconvenienced people.
And plus, there are so many cooler things he could have done with a tank. Such as charged a dollar for people to get a photo of them with it.
The English APC belongs to a Sydney guy who likes collect them, must have too much money, this particular vehicle was stolen from where it was stored. They are easy to drive and, as we have seen, can cause a lot of damage. I believe he stalled the vehicle and they capsicum sprayed him through the back door.
I have to agree with Lady C. The cost to the phone companies will be insignificant. And, since all companies use the same towers, no-one will benefit.
The carcinogenic effect of holding a mobile phone to your head for six hours a day will not be assuaged by the removal of a few mobile phone towers.
Now, if he had run down six revenue-colliecting speed cameras…..
I liked this guys work - well done
Poor chap, I guess violence is the voice of the unheard.:-)
Pity he didn’t use it on some of these dumb idiots using their mobile while driving!!!!!!!
